Dear readers,
I haven’t been in touch much so far in 2023. Between lots of balls in the air and the ongoing cold/flu season, I’ve been tending mostly to home, volunteering, and suchlike. But I’ve got y’all on my mind, so here’s a sense of what’s coming next.
In the coming week or two, I’ll post the second half of my review of Allan G. Johnson’s The Gender Knot. This installment will focus on Johnson’s ideas about resisting patriarchy through responsible action. His argument is subtle, so I’m taking my time to convey it clearly and add insight where I can.
I’m also crafting a sermon that I’ll deliver to my family’s Unitarian Universalist church in late March. I’ll be talking about spiritual resources within Unitarian Universalism and my church that have deeply informed my journey of identity—including my writing—as a stay-at-home dad. I’ll share the text (and hopefully audio!) after the event, around the beginning of April.
Finally, I’m thinking hard about my intentions for this newsletter through the rest of 2023. I want to pivot away from reviews and such and turn more-intently toward building resources for reflection and action, with my own personal experiences woven in where clarifying. More on that to follow.
Until later, sending you light—
M.
